What are your thoughts for 'renovating your heart'?

from Renovation of the heart in Daily Practice by Willard: 'Opening ourselves to cultivating love, joy and peace, first by receiving them from God & those living in him and then by extending them to others.....' Paul in Romans 12 9..."Let love be sincere...hold on to what is good...love one another with mutual affection, anticipate one another in showing honor....Rejoice in hope, endure in affliction, persevere in prayer."

In Care of the Soul - Thomas Moore suggests that we set aside time each day to review the day - thinking about the things that were good for our souls and reviewing the things that were toxic.
Next he suggests that we deliberately make a choice to live more of each day doing the things, and being in the situations that resonate with our souls.

Today Frank and I visited the episcopal church - they offer an ecumenical service at 8:30 am. I must say - I've never seen so many friendly people in all of my life. As you come into the church they have a stand built with pre-printed name tags for every member - As folks enter, they put on their nametags, and then leave them there when they exit. After the service they have a coffee hour (apparently every week). They insisted we fill out a visitor card as they have a welcome committee that takes a loaf of freshly baked bread to your home as part of their outreach and of course there will be a nametag for you the next time you visit!
No one was pushy - just very very warm and happy we visited. It reminded me how important it is to show one another God's love and acceptance.

This is also what prayerfulness is about. That quiet morning time when you receive it first from God. More later. First day of school and I am pooped!

That Episcopal church sounds really good. Also, we have so much in common liturgically and otherwise. One funny remark I heard. Oh you are Episcopal? So, Queen Elizabeth is your Pope?
Funny.
